The Boyden Public Library is so excited to announce the 2023 Summer Reading Program: Find Your Voice! This summer's 7 week reading program is all about using our voices to share stories, express ourselves, and spark change.  Starting June 26, children ages birth-12 can earn prizes just for reading. Reading over the summer and attending literacy themed events at the library is such an important facet of a child’s summer. Numerous studies have shown that reading over the summer prevents “summer learning loss” and attending the library offers a space for safe, fun and educational programs and activities. Our main goal of this event is to get kids and teens excited to read, while also providing them with fun things to do in their community over the summer.  

We will be offering Beanstack to our participants, an easy to use website/app where kids ages 0-12 can track their reading and activities over the summer to earn digital badges and real rewards. The first 100 kids (ages 6-12) to sign up will receive a fun goodie bag! When participants reach certain milestones on Beanstack, they will get to come to the library to pick a prize from the treasure chest.  Each week of the 7 week program, we will be holding separate drawings for children in grades K-5 that they will be entered into whenever they log reading and activities. Multiple lucky winners will win prizes for that week.  We look forward to collaborating with local organizations and spreading the word about great child friendly activities families can do in their area! All donors will be promoted on our website and in the digital/physical promotional materials leading up to the event and throughout the summer.
