Description

Pride Prom is an opportunity for LGBTQIA+ teens to dance authentically, be affirmed, connect with resources, reunite with friends from other schools, and make lasting friendships and memories.

My name is Sarah and I am in my second year as Pride Prom Ambassador for Safe Space NOVA.  This will be my fourth year attending Pride Prom!  Each year we begin planning in the fall and spend the entire school year designing, creating, and executing a dance that is better than any school's regular prom!  This even means so much to the students who attend. It is truly life-changing and life-saving. The last 6 months have been torturous for trans youth as they fear for lost medical care, erased identity, and persecution.  That is why this event is so important!  We chose the theme Enchanted Forest because we all, but especially our trans and nonbinary pals, need a moment to feel hope, happiness, and harmony. The connections created at Pride Prom and the validation and value experienced there are virtuous.

On June 27, 2025, hundreds of LGBTQIA+ teens and dozens of adult volunteers will come together to turn an empty room into the Enchanted Forest where dreams come true and wishes are granted.  As a nonprofit event, we have to raise thousands of dollars to put on this annual event.  We look to affirming businesses to show their support through the donation of door prizes which attendees excitedly claim and carry home.  It is just one more way of letting youth know that they are seen, heard, recognized, and validated.

Thank you for supporting the 2025 Pride Prom and LGBTQIA+ teens in the DMV.

Respectfully,

Sarah
