Sail Chicago is a not-for-profit (501(c)(3) organization, Tax Exempt ID 364542276), 100% volunteer-run community sailing program that has a mission of offering accessible and quality instruction in sailing and boating safety in an equitable and inclusive environment, and to provide affordable sailing opportunities to its members and others in the Chicago area. Two years ago, Sail Chicago formed a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee as well as a scholarship program to make sailing more accessible to diverse members of the Greater Chicago community and award recipients with free sailing instruction, respectively.

Sail Chicago is hosting its End of Year Dinner & Silent Auction event for its members on October 20, 2022. The proceeds from the silent auction/raffle will be used solely to fund the scholarship program, so that diverse community members interested in exploring the sailing recreation may do so without a financial barrier.
