Description

An End of the Summer Blast, presented by IAmCollegeLife Inc., is open to people of all abilities and ages in the autistic community as well as friends. While it is a fundraiser for an autism social club, it is also a festival where resources will be shared that benefits the autistic community, fun area for the kids, a safe space for them to make friends without judgement and a fun way to bring our community together. IAmCollegeLife is a social club helping to improve the social lives of autistic teenagers and young adults. We have quarterly events in the surrounding areas of Atlanta, and we believe all autistic teens and young adults should have the opportunity to make friends in a safe environment with judgement. Our events build on their social skills. The transition to adulthood brings new challenges for maintaining and developing social relationships for autistic individuals. Building up social skills with practice can help enhance participation in the community and support outcomes like happiness and friendships. Young autistic adults are now seen as a high-risk period for the development of mental health conditions, particularly anxiety and depression in this population. Data from the team at Elemy wrote an article, “Autism Statistics & Rates in 2022”, revealing people on the spectrum often encounter social difficulties from a variety of reasons. IAmCollegeLife Inc. goal is to reduce that gap.
