We are requesting a donation for the silent auction of Family & Youth Initiative’s Establishing Roots fundraising reception. Family & Youth Initiative is a Washington, DC non-profit that helps teens at risk of "aging out" of foster care find adoptive families and develop lasting relationships with other caring adults. We ensure that every teen finds adults who will be in their lives long-term. We bring together adults and teens through events so they can have fun, get to know each other, and begin to form relationships and community. Relationships that start at events lead to adult-teen matches for mentoring, host parenting, and adoption. Establishing Roots is our annual fundraiser and brings in about a third of DCFYI’s operating budget. Funds raised through the reception allow us to serve additional teens over the following year.
