Extra To Love assists families of children with Trisomy 13 (Patau Syndrome) and Trisomy 18 (Edwards Syndrome) through connection, financial support and education. Donations to our virtual silent auction enable our organization to provide financial and educational resources to trisomy families. Many families in these diagnosis communities have to travel out of state with their children to obtain needed medical care because either the necessary care is denied due to trisomy diagnosis or it is unavailable in one's area of residence. Extra To Love provides each family with gas money, weekly food gift cards and in some cases, a hotel stay (while a family is on the waitlist for a room at Ronald McDonald House) during their child's hospitalization. Extra To Love also distributes Diagnosis Hope boxes (filled with personalized items for baby and educational resources) to parents who have been diagnosed with a trisomy pregnancy or are early in the diagnosis. Our organization also sends Remembrance boxes to families who have experienced loss of their family member with Trisomy 13 or Trisomy 18. Extra To Love assists families in acquiring adaptive aids, supportive equipment, and therapies not covered or only partially covered by health insurance as well as minor home modifications not covered by insurance or state waiver.
