Description

Extravaganza is the annual major fundraiser for Berks Catholic.  The first Extravaganza was such a success that 35+ years later, we are still enjoying this fun-filled evening.  The event is worked on year round and on average raises $150,000 to $200,000.

A night or two before the Auction, a Family & Donor night is held.  All donors and parents are invited to be guests of the school for refreshments and the oppurtunity to bid on all Silent Auction items, plus a special "Preview Night" booth of items and homeroom baskets that are available that night only.  It is our thank-you to our business patrons, loyal friends and families for contributing to the success of the auction.

On Extravaganza night, guests are greeted by our valet parking attendants and make their way into our hallway gallery. Guests enjoy viewing the oral auction items during the "cocktail hour."  A gourmet dinner is served to 250+ guests in our gym, which has been transformed into a spectacular venue, according to the year's theme.

During dinner, the auctioneer holds a "Live Auction" of 40+ major items, ranging from jewelry to furniture, atheltic tickets, vacation trips and more.

Meanwhile, around the side of the gym, six "Silent Auction" booths are open for bidding. They are filled with many smaller items in categories covering everything imaginable: sports equipment, toys, gift certificates, jewelry, handbags, home furnishings, tableware, etc.

Guest write their bids on slips in front of each booth: the booths close at half-hour intervals during the evening and the final bid wins.

Over the past 35+ years, Extravaganza has raised more than $5 million for our catholic high school.  The key to Extravaganza's success is through the cooperation and generosity of parents, alumni, our Berks County business community and  many generous national donors.  And with this success comes the continued commitment of high-quality, faith-based education for all of our students.
