Other Event Type for Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center of NevadaJul 15, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center of Nevada is the only federaly recognized hemophilia treatment center in the entre state of Nevada. We are a non-profit that treats patients with rare bleeding disorders, including of course hemophilia. Hemophilia is a very rare bleeding disorder that can be life threatening. There are 3 different types: A, B (also known as Christmas Disease), and C. Hemophilia A affects 1 in 5,000 males worldwide. Hemophilia B occurs in 1 in 20,000 males worldwide. Hemophilia C, the rarest type, only affects 1 in 100,000 people worldwide.
For this educational dinner, we will meet with our spanish speaking patients specifically to educate them on the pain they may face with their rare bleeding disorder. Due to the life long treatment of the disease and it's effect on the body, patients may develop "target" joints, arthritis casued by blood pooling in joints, as well as many other physical causes of pain. There are many social and emotional causes of pain that come with this disease: feelings of social isolation, financial burdens for medicine that literally save their lives, amongs many others. We intend to help these patients undertand that there are resources that not only we can provide them, but many other foundations and charities we work with to help.
Your donation will help entice the patients to take an evening away to help understand more about their lifelong diagnosis and many resources that are out there to help them live longer, happier lives.
