Description

Beacons, Inc. Fall Family Festival and Fundraiser will be held on October 23, 2021, 5-9pm, at the Seaside Center, 1613 Lake Drive, Encinitas, CA.

Beacons, Inc., a California 501(c)(3) non-profit, is seeking donations of itmes for a fall fundraiser to raise money for a new program we're building: "Navigator" and continued support and enhancements to our existing programs.

The Navigator program will be a new postseconday option for individuals with disabilities in North County that enables them to contribute to their community while continuing to learn and grow in all areas of their lives through a community integrated instructional model.  The funding raised will be used to develop curriculum, provide training and purchase resources to help launch the program by January 2022.

Beacon is the brainchild of parents who throught their participation on a variety of special ed related organizations, task forces, boards and groups, recognized that more postsecondary options were needed in North County San Diego to serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  With an 86% unemployment rate, and few postsecondary educational and transportation options, individuals with intellectual/developmental disabiities often become isolated at home once they become adults.  Beacons opened its doors in November 2018 to provide meaningful options created by those who "live" the journey and recognize the need for better outcomes for their loved ones.

Current programs include: PathFinder (offers vocational training); Club Beacons(supported social events); Self Determination (a life planning service to support individuals and their families); Parent workshops (topic driven workshops for parents and families.)
