Melissa’s Second Chances is a 501(c)3 non-profit animal rescue in Shawnee, KS. We find homes and safe refuge for animals in need of a second chance. We provide a refuge for animals in every condition. Whether they need a place to spend their last few days in comfort or a chance at a new forever home we do whatever it takes to provide the best medical care and unconditional affection. On January 1, 2019, we rescued our first animal- a dog named George Jetson. Since then we have continuously worked our tails off to save every pet we can. Since opening in 2019 we have saved 1407 lives with a 99% save rate. Providing medical care, transporting the animals from their bad situations, and caring for their everyday needs does not come without cost. Our shelter is able to continue to take in animals thanks to our 281 foster families, amazing fundraising efforts put on by our fundraising team, and the incredible businesses in our community that continue to support us.
