FAMILY STEAM DAY
Carnival/Festival for Tech Valley Center of GravityNov 08, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
In celebration of National STEAM Day, the THINQubator at Tech Valley Center of Gravity will be hosting a Family STEAM Day on November 8th from 4 PM to 7 PM at Tech Valley Center of Gravity located on 30 3rd St. in Troy. The event will feature an evening of fun activities and games that will engage young people in science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math (STEAM). There will be guest visits from the Be5 STEM Club, Jewels of the Sea, the Hart Cluett Museum, and The Red Bookshelf.
Each organization will have a unique station for children to explore. The THINQubator will transform its space into a mini zip line course where children will create designs to get miniature dinosaurs from one side to the other. Children will also have the opportunity to make their very own pompom catapults.
Additionally, children will have the opportunity to visit The Be5 STEM Club to make paper circuits and work with snap circuits; learn about the history of bridges in Rensselaer County with the Hart Cluett Museum by using Magnatiles to recreate them; explore an extensive collection of seashells and a hands-on examination station with Jewels of the Sea; and visit The Red Bookshelf’s superhero-themed station to grab a book and learn about narrative design in video games with Bat Girl, The RED Bookshelf's video game designer.
There will also be popcorn, facepainting, and raffle items. Activities will be geared toward families with children between the ages 4 and 12, but all ages are welcome. This is a free event, made possible through Stewart’s Holiday Match Program.
