Description

Approximately 100 attendees from the San Fernando Valley and nearby areas (Los Angeles, Conejo Valley, Simi Valley and Pasadena) are expected to participate in our annual fundraiser luncheon on June 15, 2022, 90% of whom will be women.  As in past years we are offering items donated by our members (45-50% of the total) and merchants (55-60% of the total) to be purchased in silent auctions or won in raffles.  To keep expenses to a minimum, our entertainment will be provided by volunteers and our background music is a CD.  Silent auctions and raffles are the big draws and biggest source of contributions for our luncheon fundraiser.

We expect to raise about $5500, which will help cover the annual expenses of our many charitable activities and projects, including providing thousands of dollars of food, clothing and toiletries to our local homeless veterans; almost a thousand dollars of books, Constitution Week teaching materials and history lesson plans to schools; $2,000 in college scholarships for students in science, education and nursing; historical site preservation; and other community support.  This event is our only formal fundraiser each year.  Our members also contribute several thousand dollars in other monies through our chapter for conservation organizations (including replanting California burn areas) and other local charities, and teach literacy to both children and adults.
