Food Forward’s mission is to fight hunger and prevent food waste by rescuing fresh surplus produce, connecting this abundance with people experiencing food insecurity, and inspiring others to do the same. We collect fresh, surplus fruits and vegetables from backyards, orchards, farms, farmers markets, and wholesale produce vendors. With the help of thousands of volunteers and a dedicated staff, Food Forward has recovered and donated over 200 million pounds of fruits and vegetables that would have otherwise gone to waste. Produce is donated to hunger relief agencies across eight Southern California counties and beyond.

Food Forward's 2022 Spring Melt

The Spring Melt is Food Forward’s annual anti-gala, which raises crucial funds that will help Food Forward connect recovered produce to people experiencing food insecurity. This unconventional party brings fine food, exquisite spirits, and changemakers from across Southern California’s food and beverage scene together in support of Food Forward’s hunger relief and waste reduction efforts.
