We are kicking off our annual giving campaign with a month of FUN-raising! 

Carthay Environmental Studies Magnet PTA, a 501c3 non-profit volunteer organization, is asking FUN, family- and kid-friendly businesses to consider donating towards our raffle prizes! The Fun-A-Thon will last throughout the month of September. Any student who signs up and is able to donate any amount will receive raffle tickets for fun prizes. 

The Fun-A-Thon will take place in person at school as well as online. 

ABOUT US

Carthay Environmental Studies Magnet is the only LAUSD STEM school with an environmental focus that incorporates a garden in its program. Our students travel from greater Los Angeles – Mid City, Inglewood, West Adams, South LA – to participate in our environmental studies program. Our families represent the diversity of Los Angeles and speak over a dozen different languages from around the world: Spanish, Punjabi, Filipino, Russian, Farsi, Hindi, Japanese, Amharic, Armenian, German, Korean, Hebrew and Rumanian. What students learn here – about the way food is grown, nature’s cycles, the importance of soil health, and our impact on the environment – goes on to shape communities and neighborhoods throughout LA and beyond. Many of our students qualify for free or reduced rate lunch. As such, we want to ensure that ALL feel welcome and that donations of ANY amount are celebrated. 

Generous donations from local businesses ensure that we can use PTA funds towards programs and initiatives not provided by the District – P.E., arts enrichment, garden science, reading support, and our edible garden.

We are dedicated to nurturing and empowering the new generation of environmental stewards.
