Description

Paws of Honor (POH) will have a fundraising and awareness booth at the 30th Annual National Police Week Tent City hosted by Fraternal Order of Police DC Lodge #1. This three-day event is open to all law enforcement personnel, their families, friends and those associated with law enforcement and come from departments throughout the United States as well as from agencies throughout the world. It provides a unique opportunity to meet others who work in law enforcement and network within the law enforcement community. With an average attendance of 25,000-40,000 Tent City is one of the largest events during National Police Week and is very well attended. We aim to introduce new law enforcement departments to our organization, increase our membership, bring awareness to the plight of the retired police and military working dog and raise funds for their continued care.

The goal of POH is raise as additional $15,000 to provide veterinary care and products at no charge for retired military and law enforcement K-9’s that have served our country, locally or globally. Retired K-9’s deserve accessible, high quality veterinary care in return for their commitment and sacrifice for our country and the monetary burden associated with veterinary care should not fall on the shoulders of the officer/handler/owner once the K-9 has been decommissioned. POH currently has over 120 retired K9s enrolled in our program and as an all-volunteer, 501c3 nonprofit, 100% of all proceeds go directly towards the medical care of our K9s.
