The overall summer program will highlight educational and recreational activities and initiatives for overall health, wellness, and agility.  The program array will include athletics, board games, and outdoor recreation, as well as sports medicine, nutrition, and mental health components.  The benefits of playing strategy games, making art and music, and
getting outside to play will also be highlighted throughout SRP 2024.

The goals are to spark interest in and emphasize the importance of literacy, health, and wellness and to combat "summer slide."

The kickoff event is planned for the week of June 17th, during "Go Outdoors!" week, and will feature lawn games, face painting, read-alouds, and music.  The staff is working now to schedule a visit from a local ice cream truck and to have local high school marching band members perform.  Patrons will be invited to bring a blanket and a picnic dinner.

The staff would like to offer patrons (and summer reading program registrants) the chance to win a great prize!
