Description

I am writing to you on behalf of MUSIC AT THE MISSION to request your support for our annual fundraising event, the Mission Masquerade Ball, Glitz, Glam’n Vegas Magic, Help us Raise the Curtan for Live Music!  which will be held Saturday June 5, 2021 with a live in-person Swag Bag Pick-up Event taking place, the week before.

As we all know, this past year has been challenging for everyone. Arts organizations all over the world had to shutter their doors and many of them did not survive. In 2019-2020, Music at the Mission was on track to reach even more students and adults. In addition to the season concert schedule, free “Traffic Jam Concerts” and Elementary School outreach were underway. The organization was midyear in the second year of its new Artists in Schools Residency Program (AIS Program), teaching in concert with the music teachers at Walters Junior High School and Kennedy High School. And then, the nationwide Covid-19 crisis began.

Music at the Mission was among the first performing arts organizations in the Bay Area to pivot to an online platform and provide virtual concerts to its constituency. Audience members were able to enjoy a season of Music at the Mission concerts online, plus the rescheduled “To the Ends of The Earth” Mission Masquerade Ball (online 8-29-20). And viewers often shared the experience with family members, particularly students, who had returned home to live.

Groundbreaking virtual Music at the Mission concerts were produced following CDC guidelines, and made available online: 10-24-20 “East and West,” 11-21-20 “From Bach to Rock”, 12-19-20 “After-noon at the Opera” and on 4-17-21, “Flautissima!”  Each ticket purchased on the Music at the Mission website included a Pre-Concert Talk and ZAP! (Zoom AfterParty) and allowed access to each concert for 48 hours. The success of this years’ 2021 Mission Masquerade Ball is more crucial than ever for Music at the Mission. We hope to be able to bring back live concerts by our world class artists and celebrated educational programs that have reached so many students in the community.

Our fundraising goal this year is $25,000. We hope you will join us in supporting our commitment to bringing the arts to the community with Great America tickets to the 2021 Mission Masquerade Ball, Glitz, Glam’n Vegas Magic!  This would be a wonderful addition to our silent auction and would enhance the dollars that are raised.

If you would like to participate, please contact us with details on your donation by Friday, May 21.  Music at the Mission is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, Tax ID#: 26-2206168.  On behalf of our audiences and the community for which we serve, thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Katherine Lee, Music at the Mission Board Member, 510-378-1478
