GOMM is an HISD PreK-8th grade public Montessori magnet school with an emphasis on Environmental Science.Our focus on authentic Montessori instruction enables students to learn not through rote memorization but in ahands- on environment of discovery that emphasizes learning by doing. It is a proven method that helps allstudents, from learning-disabled to gifted and talented, achieve their potential. Additionally, GOMM offers avariety of important ancillary and after-school enrichment programs that result in well- rounded adolescents whoare prepared for the challenges of high school and college. As a Title 1 School we also serve many low- incomeand at-risk students who might not have access to Pre-K programs were it not for scholarship funds raised at thisevent.

The cost of authentic Montessori in a public school is approximately $200,000 more annually than a traditionalschool, and we rely on giving as well as significant hours of parent volunteer work to fill the gaps that state,federal, and local funding do not cover.
