Description

GPFAA Family Christmas is a large holiday concert with performances by 6-12th grade Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy students in Vocal Music (Choir) and Jazz Band. The event includes a silent auction and is planned, organized, and operated by the GPFAA Vocal Music Guild, a 501(c)(3). All silent auction proceeds benefit GPFAA Vocal Music’s brand new graduating senior scholarship fund.

GPFAA Vocal Music is home to 130 middle and high school students and faculty. Students are highly trained for their age and learn sight-reading and various genres and styles of choral literature, including classical, opera, musical theatre, contemporary, and pop. The program's purpose is to develop and enhance vocal abilities and skills for students pursuing music and choral art as a vocation and avocation. Vocal Music is under the direction of Mr. Joel Duarte and Ms. Alexis Galindo. GPFAA Vocal Music has a total of nine performing ensembles and, in a short time span, has earned many national and regional awards, including a 2021 GRAMMY Museum Enterprise Award.

GPFAA Jazz Band strand consists of 80 students in five ensembles, including Beginning Jazz, two middle school ensembles, and two high school ensembles. GPFAA Jazz focuses on developing each student to their fullest potential and fostering a love of music and an appreciation of America's only true art form…jazz. Jazz is under the direction of Mr. Bill Centera and Mr. Mark De Hertogh.

All GPFAA students receive a "double" class daily in their Fine Art strand.
