About Our Organization

Cultivating & Embracing Change, Inc.’s mission is to improve mental health among minority children and adults, while reducing mental health disparities in inadequately resourced, underrepresented, and underserved communities, by providing access to programming, service referrals, resources, and therapeutic support. Our vision is for minority children and adults to have access to mental health resources and services without barriers.

About the Gala

Cultivating & Embracing Change, Inc. is hosting a Mental Health and Wellness Fundraiser Gala. Our gala highlights the impact our organization has had in the Baltimore community and gives attendees the special opportunity to directly support this work while fellowshipping with local mental health leaders and advocates.

This year’s theme is “Navigating Mental Health at HBCUs: The Importance of Emphasizing Mental Health for Tomorrow Leaders.

Maintenance of mental health is vital in the current climate, especially for young adults navigating the challenges that come with the transitions into attending college and preparing for successful futures. This gala will specifically support C&E Change’s efforts to educate and promote wellness while providing enriching activities for students participating in our HBCU Mental Health and Wellness program. Since 2022, this program has successfully operated on the campus of Coppin State University, enhancing the lives and mental wellness of more than 200 students. In addition to offering a safe space for incoming HBCU college students and supporting their mental health needs, our program also provides college/career readiness as well as financial wellness support in partnership with Truist Bank.

This event takes place during Mental Health Awareness Month. We will be highlighting the organization’s current and future work, spotlighting our outstanding partnerships, honoring a community mental health organization, and so much more.

Our keynote speaker is Mujahid Muhammad, who is a Baltimore City Board of School Commission member and is also the founder of KEYS Enterprises  and a mental health advocate. We will honor Myrtice Taylor for her outstanding work and commitment to the students in our program. Since 2022, she has worked collaboratively with our organization, providing students at Coppin State University with the education, tools, and resources to become more financially stable and successful.
