Description

ABCD Head Start & Children’s Services has been committed to serving over 2,200  vulnerable children and families in Greater Boston each year. For over five decades, our Head Start model has provided high quality early childhood education for children birth through age five, while simultaneously offering critical support and resources to low income families at no cost. Our mission is simple: to provide children and families with the tools and resources they need to emerge from poverty and lead happy, healthy lives.

On August 15th, ABCD will be welcoming back our staff for the 2022-2023 school year with a citywide celebration focused on staff wellness. There we will celebrate the incredible work that they have and continue to do each day. Our staff have worked tirelessly, without interruption, during the pandemic to make sure that the children, families and communities were not left without the support and care that they needed. Within days of the Massachusetts COVID-19 State of Emergency being announced in March 2020 our staff were organizing and delivering imperative items like food, diapers, formula, PPE and educational supplies for children. By July 2020, when the Governor announced it was safe to do so, we reopened our doors. Our staff have shown incredible fortitude, resiliency and dedication throughout this ongoing crisis. They have done so despite working in a field that is notoriously undervalued by society. Head Start is primarily federally and state funded, and as such funds are restricted and cannot be used to purchase staff incentives or gifts. It is our hope that we can solicit and utilize donations recieved to reward staff in ways that nurture their bodies, minds and families as a "thank you" for their ongoing hard work and commitment to their communities.
