My name is Karen Kelly & I am the co-founder of the nonprofit organization Through the Heart. In 2013, my husband and I lost our first child, a baby girl named Adeline Grace, at 20 weeks into the pregnancy. We were devastated, in shock, and grieving in a way we never experienced before. In that moment, we decided we wanted to help others navigate their pain and provide a community for healing.

Through the Heart is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (tax ID #46-2933481) based in the Annapolis, MD area that offers pregnancy loss support programs locally and nationally. Since November 2013, we have provided more than 3,600 Comfort Kits free of charge to individuals, couples, and families who recently suffered a loss and that number continues to grow every day.

I am writing today to ask if you will consider donating an auction item to our 11th annual Heartoberfest event to be held July 25-28. Our theme this year is Under the Stars and the event will raise funds for existing pregnancy loss support initiatives, including Comfort Kits, the Dear Star Baby program, educational materials, and online resources.

1 in 4 pregnancies ends in a loss yet many parents suffer in silence with little or no resources. Every year we help thousands of parents who are going through one of the worst moments of their lives but we can’t do it alone. In 2023, more than 110 businesses and individuals donated items and helped us raise an auction-record $5,025 - we hope you will join us this year!
