Description

A Room to Heal creates dream bedroom makeovers for children with life-challenging illnesses or medical conditions who will benefit from a healing environment created especially for them. We spend an average of $5,000 per room, to cover new flooring, paint, furniture, accessories, electronics and sensory/medical features that can enhance the child's healing or sense of well-being. We also create at least one room makeover each year in an organization or agency that serves children and families. This could be a playroom in a hospital or family court, a waiting room in a children's mental health unit, or a play area in a social services agency. Since 2005, we have completed over 120 rooms.

We are a 100% volunteer organization, funded through donations, small grants and fundraisers. This is our main fundraiser of the year, and it is a festive evening party with music, winery, brewery and restaurant samplings, over 75 high-quality baskets for raffle, and a live auction.

Our attendees are middle-aged professionals who love what we do and support us year after year. Many have been personally touched by a room project that was done for a family member, friend or neighbor. Many others have volunteered to help with a room project, and have seen first hand the child's excitement and joy on "Reveal Day," when the door to their brand-new room is opened!
