What is the Food Fight?

The “Counties Care” Food Fight is a friendly challenge between Contra Costa County and Solano County.
Each year the two counties “battle” by raising funds for our local food banks, at the end of each battle the
county with most “per employee” donation received wins the coveted “Big Apple Trophy”. Since 2004
Solano County has brought home the prize of the “Big Apple Trophy” back to our county NINE times! Won’t
you help us to keep the “Big Apple Trophy” in Solano County?
How does the Food Fight help our county?

• Every $1.00 raised = 2 meals.
• 97 cents of every $1 donated goes towards food distribution.
• The Food Bank provides nearly 3,500,000 meals monthly!
• 60% of the food provided is fresh produce, dairy products, & proteins.
• 1 in 6 residents turn to the Food Bank for emergency and supplemental food.
• Since 2004 the Food Fight has collectively raised more than $2,000,000!
• All monies raised by our county, stay in our county!
