Adaptive Sports Rebuilds Lives
Your support of the 35th Anniversary HFSC Ivan Lendl Adaptive Sports Camp honors the legacy of camp founder Janeace Slifka and her family. Thirty-five years ago, Janeace founded the Ivan Lendl Junior Wheelchair Sports Camp to provide children living with neuromuscular disorders a safe, fun and inclusive recreational and competitive sports environment. When Janeace and her son, Jonathan, who was born with Spina Bifida, realized there were no opportunities for youth living with a wheelchair to experience a summer camp, they set out to create the first of its kind. Fate connected Jonathan and Ivan Lendl through the March of Dimes, and together the Slifka's and Ivan partnered to develop the first adaptive sports camp in New England. In 1996, Hospital for Special Care proudly continued Janeance's mission for camp and created an annual adaptive sports program that continues to grow each year.

Today, Janeace, Jonathan and Ivan all continue to participate in and support camp, our adaptive athletes and its sponsorship activities. We are honored to announce that Jonathan has accepted the 2025 Golf Classic Chair role, and we recognize Janeace for her vision and dedication to create a more equitable world for those living with a disability.

As we get ready to celebrate 35 years of the HFSC Ivan Lendl Adaptive Sports Camp, we are excited to have your support in bringing athletes living with a physical disability or autism spectrum disorder together to explore different sports while fostering peer connections, creativity and what every child wants from summer camp, fun!

Most significantly, your sponsorship means we can continue to offer both camp and our year- round adaptive sports program at no cost to participants.
