Founded in 1980, the Houston Tennis Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed to increase visibility and create a more inclusive environment for LGBTQ+ tennis players by providing leadership, support, and positive experiences to all HTC members. Additionally, HTC annually donates back to local charitable organizations.
 
HTC is home to the annual HOUTEX Tennis Tournament and charity fundraiser. HOUTEX is one of the oldest LGBTQ+ tennis tournaments in the United States and is sanctioned by the Gay and Lesbian Tennis Association (GLTA), a member organization of the United States Tennis Association (USTA). HOUTEX draws a yearly average of 125 to 150 tennis players from all over the United States. Mainly from HOUTEX proceeds, HTC has been able to donate over $150,000 to local charities since 1980 and in 2021 we donated $9,500 to Out For Education (OFE).
 
One of the unique things about this tournament is the fact that 100% of net profits go to local charities. In 2022, we have again chosen OFE as our charity. OFE provides scholarships to local LGBTQ+ Houston area students to help them with their college expenses. OFE has been around since 1999 and has provided over $2 million in scholarships to local students.
 
This is our 41st year hosting the HOUTEX tournament as an organization, and we seek your sponsorship and support for the 2022 HOUTEX Tennis Tournament to be held at Memorial Park in Houston, Texas, from November 4th- 6th, 2022. We are raising funds and seeking sponsorship to help us have a successful tournament. As you can imagine with a budget consisting of tennis courts, equipment, trophies, food and beverages, etc., we have significant overhead costs. Your potential contributions to our tournament will help us to eliminate these overhead costs so that we can donate more funds to our charities and give back to the local community.
 
Previous years of this tournament have relied on local sponsorships, tournament entry fees, a silent auction, raffle, and individual contributions to raise funds. We understand that you might have a process for sponsorship or have allocated funds for such events. Please consider HTC and the HOUTEX Tennis Tournament in your 2022 gifts/charity budget.
