The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's is Canada’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, taking place in more than 200 communities across the country. In 2023, Canadians participating in the Walk raised an amazing $6.2 million.

On Sunday May 26, 2024, we will be hosting our local walk at Brock University in St. Catharines, ON.  Last year’s event was incredibly successful with over 300 registered walkers raising over $200,000!

It is always such an inspiring day where community members share in the comradery of the day and come together to support those touched by Alzheimer’s and related dementias. It’s fun to see smiles on everyone’s faces as they listen to live music, wander through the wellness fair, participate in the “Leave your mark” community painting, and walk as a united front showing that those living with dementia are not alone.

The funds raised through this event remain local and allow us to provide vital counselling services and programs for those living with a progressive dementia and their care partners. 

The Alzheimer Society of Niagara Region offers a range of programs and services that operate along the continuum of care reflecting the journey through the disease process. Our programs respond to the need for individualized home-based support and education, while providing further opportunities for education, socialization and support in community settings. Since we see people in the context of their own homes and local communities we can assess first hand their needs and identify existing capacities.

Since the effects of isolation and loneliness can have severe negative impacts on the health of seniors, we offer an array of social and wellness programs for persons living with dementia and their care partners to actively participate with their own peers that understand what they are experiencing. We provide education to all audiences from healthcare professionals to family members.
