Innovate for a Sustainable Future: 1st National APHO Inter-School Competition

The American Preventive Health Organization (APHO) has introduced an engaging inter-school competition to enhance awareness of natural health, sustainability, and safe agricultural practices, aligned with Vision 2030. This initiative invites middle and high school students from Florida especially Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties to participate in a dynamic educational program.
Educational Component
The competition gets initiated with a mini course consisting of 4 one-hour lectures provided to participants, available virtually. This essential course will cover key topics related to natural health, sustainable living, and safe agricultural practices, reflecting APHO’s mission to advance preventive health and sustainable living.
Creative Project Choices
Following the course, students will select one of the following three creative formats to showcase their understanding of the competition topic:
1. Essay:
- Topic: "The Role of Natural wellbeing in Disease Prevention and Promoting Health."
- Description: Write an essay exploring how natural health practices impact overall wellbeing as described by the WHO and contribute to public health and sustainability.
2. Video Presentation:
- Topic: "Innovative Solutions for Sustainable Agriculture: A Video Showcase."
- Description: Create a short video (3-5 minutes) that highlights innovative approaches to sustainable agriculture. The video can include demonstrations, interviews, or creative storytelling to present your insights.
3. Infographic Design:
- Topic: "Design an Infographic on the Benefits of Sustainable Agriculture for Health and Climate."
- Description: Develop an infographic that visually represents the benefits of sustainable agriculture practices on health and climate change, making complex information accessible and engaging.
Evaluation and Recognition
Entries will be judged on originality, creativity, depth of research, and relevance to the competition’s themes. Twenty outstanding submissions will be chosen to present their ideas at a reception. All twenty will receive prizes, and four will be selected for special awards. Additionally, all participants will receive a framed certificate of participation to acknowledge their effort and involvement.
Impact and Outreach
This competition aims to foster academic excellence and inspire students to engage with critical health and sustainability issues. By reaching schools across a broad geographic area, the project seeks to create a significant impact and encourage students to contribute to a healthier and more sustainable future.
The competition will close on a reception at the end of January.
This will be a yearly event.
