Description

As more research is conducted, there is a need to translate the findings into digestible content before it can be utilized. The HunterSeven Foundation Education Program seeks to drive awareness and advocacy campaigns into clinical practice. Many of the service members that we serve experience vague, non-specific symptoms that are perplexing to providers unfamiliar with the experiences and exposures of the modern warfighter. This often leads to a delay in diagnosis due to inaction or dismissal of the service member. Given the significant advantages of early diagnosis, any delay in identification and treatment can be deadly (SEER, 2023).

The Integrative Warrior Health Summit  is one of the vehicles our team uses to disseminate education to a broad audience. These biannual events are strategically held in locations dense with military and veteran populations and are open to the public. The events are attended by local and national policy makers, healthcare providers, non-profit veterans’ groups, healthcare providers, active-duty service members and veterans.

One of our greatest strengths is our social media presence. We have attracted over one-hundred-thousand followers across five platforms.  Our team regularly engages with our support base to discuss perceptions, challenges and offer support. Year-to-date, our team shared 225 social media posts across five platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and LinkedIn); post engagements have increased 111% (973k), post reach have increased 127% (11.4m), and post impressions have increased by 242% (14.8m).

Educating healthcare providers is the most challenging and impactful facet of the Education Program. Our team has presented our findings and recommendations to industry leaders such as The VA’s War Related Illness and Injury Center, The Cleveland Clinic, The Home Base Program, The Wounded Warrior Project, American Association for Cancer Research, Joint Special Operations, and the American Public Health Association. This often forges foundational partnerships and opportunities to collaborate in the care of service members with complex or atypical cases.
