Description

Junior Achievement exists to provide volunteer integrated educational programming to K-12 students in the key areas of career readiness, financial literacy and entrepreneurship. With the advent of COVID-19, school closures caused JA to drastically change its educational programming, approach, and delivery. Since the spring of 2020, JA has pivoted its programming approach to include a variety of program delivery methods, including hybrid and virtual models.

While COVID-19 continues to propagate financial and societal uncertainty and foster a complete shift in educational learning, JA offers students caught in the middle a sense of normalcy by harnessing adult volunteers to deliver traditional programs in new ways to those in need and embracing innovation and agility to provide high impact online programs for students learning online. As COVID-19 poses a variety of challenges to businesses and job seekers, students who participate in our programs gain skills, knowledge, and insight that will prepare them to navigate these unprecedented times and effectively compete in a global economy. One program I want to highlight is the Titan Business Challenge.

The JA Titan Business Challenge is an annual event that engages students and adults from West Michigan, community businesses, and local schools. On April 26, students from around West Michigan will go head to head in a regional competition to see which team can create the best manufacturing company using a Junior Achievement online program: JA Titan.

Starting on April 11, there will be an online auction to help fundraise for the Titan programming. In order to continue empowering young people to own their economic success, we are asking that you consider an in-kind donation to our silent auction to help support Junior Achievement’s mission.

Please find more information about the event on our website: michigangreatlakes.ja.org or contact me directly.
