Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease that can strike children and adults at any time. Its  onset has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. Besides coping with a lifelong dependence on injected insulin, these adults and children must face the constant threat of devastating, life-threatening complications. TID requires intensive, 24/7 management. There are no days off, and there is no cure- yet.

Since 1970, JDRF has supported more than $2.5 billion in diabetes research, which also benefits the 32 million Americans living with type 2 diabetes. While JDRF’s core mission is funding leading-edge  research, our local Community Engagement program provides support to all those impacted by T1D. From the day of diagnosis to daily life decades later, JDRF supports and connects people in the T1D community to help them live better lives. 

On May 14, 2022, the JDRF Upstate New York Chapter will present their 25th Anniversary One Hope Ball at the Albany Marriott. This is one of the Capital Region’s top fundraising events, featuring one of a kind live and silent auctions, live entertainment, cocktail hour, and dinner. Over 550 people will attend this event and we will raise over half a million dollars to further the quest to cure, prevent, and treat T1D.
