Homeless Education Office Graduate Recognition Ceremony
Other Event Type for Los Angeles Unified School District Education Foundation - Homeless Education OfficeMay 20, 2024 from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM
We bring greetings to you from the Los Angeles Unified School District-Student Support Programs, Homeless Education Office (HEO). The Los Angeles Unified School District has a reported 12,530 students experiencing homelessness, of that total, 770 students are seniors, approximately 200 of those seniors experiencing homelessness will be participating in this year’s Graduation Recognition Ceremony.
Homelessness is not just an issue of individuals without homes, it's an issue of providing basic human necessities such as food, clothing and shelter to those that don’t otherwise have access to them. Education in that regard is equally as important. Our purpose is to provide assistance to homeless students and families in compliance with the McKinney Vento Homeless Assistance Act, an integral part of No Child Left Behind.
Each year, we celebrate these amazing students by publicly recognizing their hard work and resiliency at our annual Homeless Education, Graduation Recognition Ceremony (GRC). This year’s graduation recognition ceremony venue is BMO stadium in Los Angeles. It is a fun-filled day event for the students with food, music, raffle prizes, special guests, a keynote speaker and more. Any items you can provide to help celebrate the hard work and dedication of our students would be greatly appreciated. Anything you are willing to donate would be greatly appreciated. Any items under 150 in quantity will go towards our basket raffle whereas any items of at least 150 in quantity will be distributed to each graduate attending the event. We will also appreciate food/desert donations. Any monetary donations would also be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time, and we look forward to hearing from you. We are a registered 501c3 (68-0503221).
