Description

Please join us on Thursday, November 7, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., in Jamaica Plain, for JP@Home’s 5th Anniversary Celebration, presented by Hebrew SeniorLife, featuring a Business and Community Breakfast and Annual Members’ Meeting. There will be a networking opportunity, speakers on a variety of aging topics, breakfast and much, much more.

Boston’s older adult population is growing, mirroring world-wide trends. In 2010, there were over 88,000 Boston residents age 60+, making up 14% of the population. By 2030, this number is expected to approach 125,000 or 19% of the city’s population, according to projections by the Donahue Institute at the University of Massachusetts. Boston’s demographic shift is largely due to middle-aged residents staying in the city as they grow older.
Launched in 2014 as a program of the 45-year-old elder services non-profit Ethos, JP@Home supports the health, functional, emotional, social and spiritual needs of older adults in Jamaica Plain and its surrounding communities. Ethos and the program’s members coordinate and deliver services and supports so that older adults can remain in their homes and not be dependent on family members and friends.
Unlike many social service programs for older adults, JP@Home cannot rely on government funding or grants to operate and sustain itself. JP@Home is largely dependent on the annual dues individuals pay and the support of the surrounding communities. Many organizations including our Diamond Sponsor Hebrew SeniorLife, have been early supporters of JP@Home as Business Members and are making meaningful contributions.

As the program enters its next stage, the broader community must mobilize to help sustain the great work that has been started and ensure JP@Home is available to others in the future.

There are a number of ways the community can support JP@Home:

• Sign-up to be a sponsor of JP@Home’s 5th Anniversary Celebration. There are opportunities to support the event and program at levels to fit every organization.
• Sponsor a table to provide an equal opportunity to attend the celebration for those older adult who may not have the financial means. Purchase tickets and attend the event to show support for JP@Home.
• Provide volunteer or in-kind support to enhance the event and demonstrate a commitment to older adults.
• Additional information is included in the pages that follow or at www.ethocare.org/jp5/.

Thank you in advance for your support and we hope to see you at the JP@Home 5th Anniversary Celebration on November 7th.
