The Federation of Community Social Services of BC's June 2018 Conference will focus on Current and Emerging Issues affecting the community social services sector. We are inviting speakers from across British Columbia and delegates will hear from government, provincial advocates, and community leaders about work that is changing, inspiring, or supporting the communities they serve.

The event will also include a celebration of National Aboriginal Day, a Silent Auction to raise funds for The Federation’s Youth Education Bursary*, and a working reception hosted by our FABP insurance partners, Schmunk Gatt Smith and Associates.

We are very pleased to announce presentations from the following people and organizations:

  • The Honorable Katrine Conroy, Minister of Children and Family Development
  • Isobel Mackenzie, BC’s Seniors Advocate
  • Pamela Liversidge, Director of Policy and Partnerships, Foundry
  • BC Housing
  • First Nations Health Authority

*The Youth Education Bursary was established by Federation members in 2009 to encourage and support young people to develop a career in the human or social services sector.  The bursary program supports young people 25 or younger who either are or have been in care and who want to pursue post-secondary education towards a career in human or social services.  Your donations make an impact!  Since 2009, the bursary program has awarded $143,100 in bursaries to 127 recipients to help students with the financial costs of tuition, books, and supplies for post-secondary study.  Students are welcome to apply over multiple years as we share a long-term interest in their studies and development into social service professionals.
