Our youth group would greatly appreciate a donation of a gift card or other item from your business as a raffle item for our upcoming Junior Tea and Basket Raffle.  The event will be held on May 19, 2024. Sponsor names will be included in our Facebook advertising, will be displayed on a poster and announced at our event, and will be included in our church's newsletter.

The Junior Tea and Basket Raffle for boys and girls and their parents/grandparents includes a kid-friendly craft, Victorian-style dress-ups, a basket raffle, and kid-friendly desserts and beverages served using real china place settings. Besides fundraising, our goal is also to bring the community out of their houses and give them an enjoyable afternoon. Because our community is predominantly low income, our ticket prices are kept low. Our income from ticket sales is supplemented with a basket raffle at the tea. "Angel tickets" are offered to families who cannot afford a ticket.

Our youth group has sponsored a girl through World Vision since March 2013. We are responsible to send $35 per month to World Vision for Tsepang’s support. The proceeds from this year’s event will be used to continue Tsepang’s monthly sponsorship as well as support for her family and community. Our goal is modest...to raise at least $620. Anything raised in excess of that amount will be used to continue our sponsorship and gifts for yet another year, or will be given as special needs arise where World Vision is providing emergency relief.

To give some other examples of our small youth group's commitment to service: In February 2024, our youth sponsored the Souper Bowl of Caring for our 25th year, with youth collecting $444 for the Allentown Y's Warming Station for area homeless neighbors.  In March 2024, they hosted their annual free community egg hunt and kids' bingo. During the past year, our youth gave their time as servers at the dinners hosted by our church, which donates 100% of the proceeds to a variety of area nonprofit organizations. Last year’s youth-hosted Junior Tea event raised $1183 for our sponsored child, her community, and to fight world hunger. 93 children and adults enjoyed the tea.
