Read to a Child will be hosting a silent auction as part of our online event, Turning Pages, on January 20, 2022. The event will feature a silent auction, virtual live auction, and inspiring videos. This is a national event in collaboration with our five regions: Greater Boston, Hartford, Detroit, Los Angeles, and Miami. 

Our Turning Pages event supports our Read Aloud Mentoring Program that is expected to operate in 32 Title 1 schools by the end of the school year, serving 900 K-4 students. In the program student and adult pairs meet weekly for mentoring sessions centered around read aloud and books. Our program is expertly designed to combine the benefits of mentorship and read aloud to address both academic and socio-emotional needs. This is especially important this year to combat the academic and social challenges students have faced due to COVID-19.

The Read Alous Mentoring Program is offered to our partner schools as both a virtual and in-person model to ensure we are able to operate in our partner schools despite the challenges of COVID-19. Our program is offered at no cost to our partner schools. Read to a Child employs program staff for each school and supplies all needed books and materials. This allows us to partner with under-resourced schools in our communities without placing a burden on their limited resources.
