Description

Key Cares, is a nonprofit organization, in Davenport, IA that was started in 2018 by a local mortgage company, Key Mortgage Group, whose goal was to help support and give back to our local community. Key Cares has helped and supported several organizations, but for the last three years, we have had the privilege of working with three incredible foundations to raise awareness and support for families who have been affected by childhood cancer.

Jordan's Joy is a foundation that was established by a local family to honor their friend, Jordan Schmidt. Jordan was a true hero that passed away at the age of 15 from a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Their goal is to bring joy and comfort to other children battling life threatening and rare diseases.

The Rally for Reid Foundation was started in honor of a very brave little boy, Reid, who battled cancer for three years, until he became an Angel, on October 13, 2020. Reid was 5 years old when he passed. His bravery, resilience and zest for life left a huge impact on everyone who knew his story and followed his journey. His family continues to honor Reid and his legacy through the Rally for Reid Foundation helping others who face these impossible challenges.

The mission of the Brantley Francis Foundation is to positively impact pediatric cancer patients and their families and to also bring hope to children and their families when hope is hard to find. Brantley Matthew Francis went to Heaven in December of 2017 after battling cancer.  Even though Brantley was only 3 years old, he impacted so many others with his bravery, strength, compassion, silly personality, and most of all his beautiful smile.

While we have made great strides in our efforts to raise awareness for Childhood Cancer, we are always striving to do more. This November is our 4th Annual Key Cares Event. The night is filled with laughter and of course some tears, but most importantly this event brings the people in our community together to support and bring awareness to the families there that night and to help other families who are experiencing the same heartache and pain of having a child battling cancer or losing a child to this terrible disease.
