Description

Lamar Elementary is a Title I school located in The Woodlands, Texas. On March 25, 2022, we will be hosting our annual Spring Carnival. Friends and family of our 600+ students will attend and it is one of the largest events of the year for our school. We are excited to provide our students with a night of fun, safe recreation.

The theme of our Carnival this year is “50 Years of Lamar” in celebration of Lamar’s 50th Anniversary.  Lamar is the oldest elementary school in The Woodlands and has a deep connection and history within the community.  Many alumni have children of their own who have attended or are currently attending Lamar as students.

Lamar Elementary is a very diverse school with approximately 15 different languages spoken and even more native countries represented. It is one of the only schools in our community with a Dual Language program and over 30% of our students are bilingual. At Lamar, we celebrate these differences and encourage students to learn more about the diversity of their classmates throughout the year with celebrations for Hispanic and Native American Heritage Month as well as ongoing initiatives sponsored by our Diversity committee. Our carnival will continue to highlight our school’s diversity through the various games, food, entertainment and experiences we plan to offer.

Our carnival will be hosted both virtually and in-person with COVID protocols in place to allow for community involvement and inclusion for everyone despite the impact of COVID-19. The in-person format will be a traditional carnival with games, entertainment, a silent auction and raffle, and will include outside activities and space for social distancing. The virtual carnival will allow access to families who may not be comfortable participating in person and will be hosted on an interactive website with carnival “tents” and activities.
