Description

A community tradition for 20 years, the Lansing Public Library has hosted it's Annual Block Party for Lansing residents and for children of all ages. The attendees that have helped make the Block party an annual success are made up of a diverse group of: Caucasian, Black, and Hispanic to name a few.

In the past decades the event has boasted: a petting zoo; visits, prizes, raffles, freebies, safety instruction and education from the local police and firemen; art projects; Pop-up library; bands, local food vendors, The Lansing Historical Society, and Friends of Lansing Public Library tables, candy, and face painting to name a few.

The event will be held this year at: The Lansing Public Library at 2750 Indiana Ave., Lansing, IL 60438. On the date of June 1, 2024, Saturday from 6pm-9pm.

For the first time, the Friends of Lansing Public Library will be instituting its first ever- Silent Auction! We hope that this fundraiser will be the most successful of all our fundraising events throughout the year, and to further continue this to be a major fundraising event annually.

The "Friends" will have a table designated at the event with volunteers such as myself, to greet patrons, sell books, DVD's, magazines, invite patrons & residents to become new Friends of Lansing Public Library members, and participate in our first ever Silent Auction. Donors will be recognized  prior to the June 1 date of event within the Library on a poster and website promoting our silent auction and will list all names of vendors who contributed to silent auction. Also the donors of any item large or smal,l will be advertised on both Library and "Friends" Facebook page. Lastly, donors will be recogoznized with a flyer next and/or on our table listing the silent auction item and donor as well as on the actual Silent Auction signin/signage sheet.
