In 1947, Dela White opened the doors to Sunshine Cottage for the first time to serve seven deaf children in Bexar County. From that modest beginning, Sunshine Cottage has grown to an organization serving more than 750 children and families each year and enjoys the reputation of being a world-renowned center in the forefront of listening and spoken language for deaf or hard of hearing children.  As more people understand that deaf children can learn to hear and talk, more parents are seeking out Sunshine Cottage for the educational needs of their children.

At Sunshine Cottage, we are proud of the lives we have changed and all that they are accomplishing in the hearing world; however, none of this would be possible if it weren’t for the generosity of individuals like you. Through your continued commitment, the trajectory of the lives of countless children who are deaf or hard of hearing has dramatically improved.

Legacy Luncheon is an annual event where we celebrate the commitments, the successes of our children, and honor our founder’s legacy.
