Description
Washington Elementary in Bloomington, Illinois is in its 117th year of providing children in the local community a quality education. Since its opening in 1897, Washington School continues to educate its students from kindergarten to 5th grade, as one of the last neighborhood schools, still standing.

Washington School will be hosting our annual School Carnival and Auction on April 11, 2014, here at our school in Bloomington, Illinois. This carnival and auction. themed “Let the Games Begin”, in honor of the Olympics, is our school’s largest fund-raiser, is held solely for the purpose of enhancing education for our children, with a wee bit of fun thrown in there, too. ALL proceeds from the carnival will again go toward enriching the lives and education of our students. We are happy to include funding for McLean County’s FIRST school garden that was erected in the spring of 2011. We also enrich the lives of our students with field trips and assemblies with these funds. Our newly renovated library is constantly stocked with a variety of books, to meet the needs and interests of all of our students.

On behalf of the students at Washington School, we would like you to consider making a contribution to this year’s auction with a donation. As we are having raffle baskets, anything you can contribute would be appreciated. Last year’s carnival had over 1,000 people in attendance, and this year we anticipate over 1,200! The Bloomington-Normal community has continued to generously support us every year, and we would like to give you an opportunity to be part of that support. Your contribution is always appreciated by the students, staff, and the parents of Washington School.

Each item donated has a plaque in front of the item, listing who donated each item. We also create a booklet of items to be sent home with each student prior to the carnival, listing all items and donors. We will also put out any display materials provided to us.

Thank you so much for considering our request. We would like to have any donation items by April 10. If you have any questions or need additional information before that time, please contact Washington School at 309-829-7034. Our tax identification number is E9994-9131-06 (37-1283028) for your records!
