Description

When young people participate in sports, studies show that they have higher self-esteem, increased self-efficacy, and are more connected to community. These factors lead to increased positive health and academic outcomes.

To meet the needs of local youth, the Laguna Niguel Lightning Baseball Club was founded in 2012.  Each fall five teams form to play in local leagues and tournaments in the 11U through 14U divisions.  In addition to games, team members work hard to develop their skills and team rapport, practicing together several times a week.  From September through July, the teammates form life-long bonds as they learn how to win, lose, and most importantly, how to be part of a team that supports one another.

Each team’s reward for months of hard work is the chance to play in a once-in-a-lifetime destination tournament.  This upcoming summer, our 12U team is headed to Cooperstown, New York to compete in one of most illustrious youth baseball tournaments in the world.  Additionally, our two 13U teams will be competing in the Triple Crown World Series in Vail, Colorado and our 14U team will be competing in the USA Baseball West Championships in Phoenix, Arizona.

As you might imagine, the costs associated with these trips are significant.  It is important that all of the players are able to participate, regardless of their financial situation.  Because of this, the players and their families work hard throughout the year to raise funds.

This year, we are hosting an online social media blast event with youth videos that culminates with a player celebration and silent auction.

Our youth are eager to represent Orange County and our local communities with the utmost pride in our journey to be part of these prestigious tournaments
