Literacy for Athletes was established in 2017. We hold an annual kickoff event for this program that we extend through eight months of the year. With this program student athletes receive free books and opportunities for one on one instruction with volunteers. Volunteers will listen to them read or read to them depending on the level of competency. Our mission with this program is to implement a learning foundation before practices and allow additional help in hte articulation of reading. We are promoting this event year rount to increase the overall reading comprehension of our youth so they will pass the state standards test with fluency. This event will help us raise funds to purchase literacy resources and books to further our program's advancements.
