Description

Saint Louis Public Schools has launched an exciting initiative, Literacy for the Lou. This program aims to foster a love for reading across all 62 schools in our school district and throughout the City of St. Louis.

To ensure the success of this initiative, we recognize the importance of a diverse approach to promoting healthy reading habits among our students. We are enhancing our school libraries, providing students with access to books that pique their interests, investing in professional development for our staff, and collaborating with community partners like yourselves to enrich our students' reading experiences.

One key aspect of our program is a reading incentive program where students are rewarded for reading 30 minutes or more each day. As part of this initiative, we are seeking support from community organizations to donate sets of tickets to be raffled off to students who successfully complete monthly reading challenges. We have conducted surveys to understand our students' interests, and we believe that your contribution would greatly enhance the excitement and engagement surrounding our program.

Closing the learning gap exacerbated by the challenges of COVID-19 necessitates the collective support of our community. We believe that your organization's involvement could make a significant difference in supporting our students' literacy development.

I would be grateful for the opportunity to discuss how your organization can be involved and help support our students. Please let me know a convenient time for you to talk, and I will gladly accommodate.

Thank you very much for considering our request. We look forward to the possibility of working together to empower our students through literacy.
