Litt Your Spirits Cocktail Party
Gala/Party for Friends Boarding Home of Bucks Quarterly Meeting / Friends VillageSep 15, 2017 from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Dear Friend,
As you many already know, Friends Home & Village (FHV) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that has offered moderately priced, small community, retirement living since 1897. With independent living apartments and personal care rooms, FHV serves seniors over the age of 62 in historic Newtown, Pennsylvania.
FHV's personal care building, Paxson Hall, was built in 1899 and has been serviced, to date, by an elevator built in 1913. While the old elevator is functional and beautiful, it's space limitation does not allow for both emergency personnel and their equipment to board it simultaneously. As a result, in an emergency, response personnel must carry sick or injured residents on stretchers down three flights of stairs. Many of these residents are confused and in pain.
Additionally, parts for a 1913 elevator are hard to come by. When in need of maintenance, replacement parts cannot be ordered, but instead must be custom made. This process is very costly and time consuming. In the event of sudden part failure, the current elevator could be inoperable for several weeks while replacement parts are made, leaving residents with balance, mobility, and memory issues negotiating stairs for meals and activities, multiple times a day.
In 2016, FHV launched a campaign to raise $450,000 toward this project. To date, FHV has successfully raised $412,000 and is attempting to raise the remaining $38,000.
On September 15, 2017, FHV is hosting the "Lift Your Spirits Cocktail Party" in an effort to raise the remaining funds, and anticipates over 100 guests in attendance. To help FHV achieve its fundraising goal, and create a festive spirit of giving, it is our hope to host a silent auction at this event, utilizing donated items.
To this end, I am reaching out to ask for help. Please consider donating a gift certificate for the silent auction. To show our appreciation, your business will be publicly thanked in our program booklets, on our website, via social media, and in our Fall community newsletter, reaching hundreds of people that live in and around Newtown.
Each and every donation makes a difference and helps FHV reach its goal. Thank you for your time and consideration!
