Lucky 13 Rescue Inc.is a federal 501c3 non-profit that takes in unwanted, stray, and lost pets in the Kansas City and surrounding areas, with a focus on rural communities with little resources. We provide veterinary care, rehabilitation, and most of all, love and compassion. Once the animals are ready for their next step in life, we thoroughly screen adopters, and work to place each pet into a loving forever home, fit to meet their needs. It is our mission to benefit the community as a whole.

We are excited to announce that we are hosting our second annual fundraising event on November 12, 2018 in an effort to raise funds to build out a small facility for housing animals. We are currently limited to only helping animals if we have an open foster home. This building would allow us to intake a homeless pet immediately and get them the medical attention they need. During this time, we could then locate a foster home, assuring the pet is safe. In addition to these building expenses, we continue to have veterinary expenses for the animals’ that we intake. For each healthy, unaltered, unvaccinated animal we take into our program, it costs us at a minimum $100-125 to have them fully vetted prior to adoption. In many instances, animals that come into our care require additional medical interventions due to previous neglect and lack of preventative care. For example: If a dog is found to be heartworm positive, this treatment costs $800 and requires a low energy environment for 120 days.

Our fundraising event will be an online auction that runs from November 12-16. Our last online auction brought in $1600. We are hoping to double it this year. We would absolutely love your support. A monetary, gift card, or item donation would be greatly appreciated and help us get closer to our goal of having a physical shelter to help more animals in Kansas City and surrounding areas
