Hitch Elementary School, a Chicago Public School, has earned the highest CPS school rating, a Level 1+, since 2013. We are also pleased to announce that in November, Hitch earned the Highest Arts Certification for CPS! This is exciting news for our school and our community, because Hitch meets the following criteria: Students receive 120+ minutes of art instruction per week (50 min. of music and 75 min. of art); all students have 100% access to arts curriculum for all grade levels; and we have an optimal art teacher- to-student ratio.
While great news, and indicative of our caring community of parents, children, and residents of the 45th Ward, these achievements do not provide the funds we need to keep our school and students competitive and thriving. We are in constant need of funds for desperately needed technology, sports equipment, student enrichment and curriculum supplies. Our students - 550+ strong - represent the diverse socioeconomic levels of our city and neighborhood, and need your help to achieve their potential.
Thanks to the generosity of companies like yours, over the last 5 years we have raised $45,000 to help maintain our school. On April 8th 2016, the Hitch Elementary School PTA - a registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable organization - will host its annual fundraiser, “The Main Event,” to benefit Hitch Elementary. This event will be held at The Lido (5504 N. Milwaukee) and features a silent auction, raffles, and other activities to help us reach our fundraising goal, which is $15,000 for 2016’s event. The Main Event is our largest fundraiser of the year. The proceeds are an important part of our annual operating plan and serve to ensure that the students of Hitch Elementary are given every opportunity to succeed.
We are in the process of collecting items for our silent auction and raffle and are writing to ask if you can help by making a tax-deductible monetary, in-kind or merchandise donation. Merchandise or gift certificates donated will be auctioned or raffled at the event. We are asking for your help as community members, customers, providers, and friends.
We appreciate that businesses like yours receive many requests for donations; however, we also believe The Main Event presents a unique opportunity for businesses to support children and their parents in our community.
If we receive your tax-deductible contribution by April 1st, we will acknowledge your contribution in our printed event program and online at www.hitchschool.org. These materials will reach the families and friends of our 550+ students who live, shop and dine in our neighborhood.
Please feel free to contact me to arrange for a volunteer to pick up your donation or to answer any questions.
Thank you in advance for your generous support.
