Description

Memorial Beach Challenge (MBC) * May 22, 2019 in Ocean City, NJ

The MBC is held in Ocean City, NJ on Memorial weekend where the main Obstacle Course Challenge event is a soft-sand adventure race—featuring Navy SEAL-approved obstacles. Also offered is a Kids Fun Run. Utilizing actual Navy SEAL-inspired obstacles and the challenge of soft-sand running on a two-mile stretch of shoreline, the Obstacle Course is a test of physical and mental toughness. Obstacle descriptions are top secret until a week before the event when they’ll be posted on the website, and unveiled on race day. The challenge is open to both individual racers and teams of up to four. The Kids Fun is specially designed to let children be a part of the day’s fun in support of heroes and their families. The course—which goes from  8th Street to 5th Street and back—features a variety of safe obstacles that allow kids as young as 5 to experience the excitement and reward of taking part in the event.

The event benefits The 31Heroes Project.

On August 6, 2011, a tragedy shook the military community and Americans everywhere. In a single instance, America lost 30 military service members; 25 American Special Operations personnel, 5 United States Army National Guard and Army Reserve crewman, and one U.S. military K-9– when a CH-47 Chinook helicopter, call sign Extortion 17, was downed in Afghanistan. In the wake of the unimaginable tragedy, a mission was born.

The mission of The 31Heroes Project is to raise money and awareness through social and athletic events to support the families of Extortion 17 and honor their legacy by funding the treatment of traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder.
