Description

Our annual Gala, “Mira Vista Lights,” happening on February 5, 2022 at the Albany Veterans Memorial Building. This community event aims to raise funds for the Mira Vista PTA. It's a fun evening dedicated to our school, with music provided by parents and locally catered. We do provide teachers and their partners with complimentary entry. We also provide a generous sliding scale to make the event accessible to our entire community.

Mira Vista School is a Richmond K-8 public school, and is in the top 5% most diverse schools in the nation. 58% of our families qualify for free/reduced lunch. Our PTA is committed to ensuring that all of our students have equal access to enrichment and educational experiences beyond the classroom. (Mira Vista’s PTA tax ID # is 94-6184036.) The Mira Vista PTA funds art and music programming but our largest contribution goes towards funding field trips. Each bus averages $1200 and with 36 classrooms, this means we aim to raise almost $45,000 for field trips alone.

This year we are aiming to partner with Playworks to provide our students with a coach. Playworks is an Oakland-based national nonprofit that supports learning and physical health by providing safe and inclusive play to low-income students in urban schools. Playworks works with schools to design curriculum and activities that offer play opportunities during recess, lunch and after school programs.
