Empowerment Hub Program Description

The Mixed Behavior Foundation Empowerment Hub, located at 1819 Colfax Street, Concord, is a community-focused space designed to foster creativity, economic empowerment, and overall well-being for residents. The Empowerment Hub will offer a variety of programs aimed at supporting personal growth, skill development, and community engagement.

Objectives of the Empowerment Hub

The Empowerment Hub will serve as a vital resource center, offering the following key programs and services:

Workforce Development: Culinary training programs focused on food handler and food manager certifications, providing participants with the skills necessary to pursue careers in the food service industry.

Kitchen Takeover Initiative: A unique opportunity for local and aspiring chefs to showcase their culinary talents using a fully-equipped industrial kitchen, helping them gain exposure and generate income without the need for their own restaurant space.

Creative Workshops & Cooking Classes: These workshops offer community members creative outlets to express themselves, learn new skills, and foster a sense of belonging through art and cooking.

Vendor Opportunities: Weekend markets will provide a platform for local artisans and small businesses to showcase and sell their products, encouraging entrepreneurship and economic growth.

Community Events: Regularly scheduled events such as game nights, open mics, and wellness workshops will create a positive and supportive environment for residents to engage with one another.

Proposed Use of Empowerment Hub Space

Multi-Purpose Room: A flexible space designed for workshops, classes, and events.
Fully-Equipped Industrial Kitchen: To be utilized for culinary classes, the Kitchen Takeover Initiative, and workforce development programs focused on culinary management.
Vendor-Friendly Outdoor Area: A dedicated outdoor space for weekend vendor markets, promoting small businesses and fostering community engagement.
Community Lounge: A comfortable area for residents to gather and connect before and after events.
Benefits to the Concord Community

Economic Growth: By hosting vendor markets and providing local chefs opportunities through the Kitchen Takeover Initiative, we will stimulate small business growth.
Career Development: Culinary training and certifications will prepare residents for successful careers in the food service and hospitality sectors.
Creative Expression: Art and cooking workshops will encourage personal development and creativity.
Wellness Improvement: Mental health and empowerment programs will provide crucial resources for emotional well-being.
Youth Engagement: The hub will create a nurturing environment for youth, keeping them engaged in positive, constructive activities.
Community Building: The hub will strengthen connections among diverse groups through events and workshops, fostering a strong sense of community.

Funding Needs

To bring the Empowerment Hub to life and ensure its long-term success, we are seeking financial support for the following:
